IELTS Test

( IELTS ) The International English Language Testing System is world’s most popular English language test. IELTS test is recognised by more than 9000 institutions in over 135 countries. It is a test of English language proficiency which assesses your level of skill in listening, reading, writing and speaking.
There are two modules of IELTS test which are Academic or General Training test , depending on whether you want to study, work or migrate. Both modules consists of four parts: Writing, Reading, Listening and Speaking.

The Writing, Reading and Listening sections of the test are held in the morning from 9.00am to 12:15pm, without any breaks. The Speaking section which lasts 11-14 minutes is held either the afternoon on the day before the main test or the afternoon right after the main test.

Sections of IELTS Test 

The Listening test lasts 30 minutes. There are four sections and 40 questions in all. You will hear a conversation , a general talk, often giving you some kind of information . A conversation related to learning or training, and an educational or training lecture. Recordings are played only once you will be given the questions before the listening part begins.

The Reading test takes 60 minutes. It has three parts and total 40 questions. The academic test has three passages. The passages come from books, magazines and newspapers, and at least one of these presents an argument . The General Training test reading part has a wider mixture of material such as complaining something . As well as books and magazines, there is material from advertisements, pamphlets and instruction manuals. One text will be longer and descriptive.

The Writing test also takes an hour. There are two parts. The academic writing has a report of about 150 words for the first part, in which you have to describe the information shown in a schematic (e.g. a graph, table or diagram). The second is about 250 words, in which you have to discuss an opinion or a situation. In the General Training test the first part is also 150 words, in which you have to ask for information or explain something. The second part is 250 words, and is discursive (that is, you have to explain your opinion on something).

The Speaking test nearly 10 -15 minutes . You have to answer some questions from the interviewer, about things like where you live and your hobbies or other personal details. Then you have to talk for some time on a particular topic, though you are given a minute to prepare what you are going to say, and the final few minutes are spent in a more general conversation with the interviewer.
